Our Story

In the beginning...

Dr Stephen Thompson pastored the Foursquare church in Marysville from 1991-2015.  Under his leadership, the current property at 11911 State Avenue was purchased in 1993. The church experienced a move of the Holy Spirit throughout the 1990's and 2000's, restoring the Father Heart of God to his people, resulting in heart healing and transformed lives.
Pastor Aaron joined his father in 1992 and spent 13 years as a youth pastor, worship leader, and Christian School principal. In 2008 Aaron and his wife Karla planted a church, Marysville New Life, in South Marysville. In 2015, Dr Stephen retired from his senior pastor position.  Pastor Aaron merged his church  Marysville New Life  with Victory Foursquare to birth Marysville Foursquare Church with a vision to bring the love of Jesus to our community and world.

The road to recovery...

Aaron & Karla Thompson's ministry is a reflection of their marriage - They witnessed the supernatural moving of the Spirit in dreams and visions to bring them together.  They struggled through several years of dysfunction and distance in their marriage.  They chose a path of healing through counseling, small groups, deliverance, forgiveness, and inner healing. They experienced a renewal of trust, respect, and intimacy.
These experiences have influenced their beliefs and practices of discipleship and growth in the church.  God uses supernatural means of deliverance and healing. God uses pain and process to get our attention. God uses relationship and community as a part of our healing journey.

Growing in Jesus Together...

Marysville Foursquare values providing space for several biblical models of growth in Jesus.
Pentecostal ethos: The biblical expectation of deliverance and the manifestation of spiritual gifts is a part of the growth of a believer - we offer deliverance and  healing prayer at the end of every service, as well as conferences to "fan into flames the gift of the Spirit" (2 Timothy 1:6)
Recovery in Community: The biblical essential of a relational community to grow in Christ is reflected in our Celebrate Recovery every Wednesday night.  We also offer life groups seasonally to connect and grow together.  "If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up." (Ecclesiastes 4:10)
Living on Mission: A life of service to God and others is a part of how people grow.  We find our fulfillment in giving, serving, going, and making disciples of others.  M4 encourages everyone to find expressions of serving on a team within the church, in our community, and into other nations. "As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace." (I Peter 4:10)
